DEADLINE 1 DECEMBER 2013
VicTESOL is hosting the 2014 ACTA International Conference here in
Melbourne next spring at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
at South Wharf.
We are calling for submissions from teachers, researchers and others
interested in presenting. Proposals should address significant and
contemporary issues, and reflect recent work of relevance to the
practice of TESOL.
The theme for the conference is _TESOL- Meeting the Challenge_. Among
the challenges faced by the profession is the ongoing ability to meet
the learning needs of learners in diverse contexts. These needs are
increasingly diversifying, as more students are learning English around
the world, and as the nature of immigration, refugee and international
student intakes to English speaking countries change. Yet education
systems are increasingly looking to standardise curricula and teaching
programs and practices. Accountability frameworks try to find single
measures as evidence of effectiveness, placing pressure on TESOL
professionals to produce such outcomes, and yet still address the
complex, multidimensional learning needs of our students.
We invite papers from all with an interest in TESOL to share their
perspectives on these issues, successful practices and experiences in
addressing these issues in different contexts, or to explore and aspect
of the issues and challenges we face. Our aim is to provide conference
participants with a stimulating, informative and inspiring professional
development experience. We look forward to your contribution to this.
Options for presentations include:
· Paper (25 minutes).
· Workshop (60 minutes)
· Symposium (60 minutes)
· Poster presentation.
Presenters will be required to register for the conference. Members of
their state TESOL association (insert name and joining info here) are
eligible for Early Early Bird registration rates.
