The draft ATAR WACE EAL/D year 11 and 12 syllabuses are now available on the SCSA website. They are in the secure (i.e. you’ll need to log in) extranet, at the bottom of the EAL/D course page at http://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/internet/Senior_Secondary/Courses/WACE_Courses/English_as_an_Additional_Language_Dialect. Scroll right down to WACE 2016.
At this stage only the ATAR (university entry) draft courses have been released.
SCSA with input from the Course Advisory Committee (composed of 5 DOE teachers, 2 AISWA, 3 CEO and 7 other reps from the sectors and tertiary providers) have adapted/adopted the Australian Curriculum EALD with the aim of retaining the best features of our current courses.
SCSA is seeking feedback from teachers on these draft syllabuses. The survey is on the same page as the drafts above. Once these syllabuses have been finalised they will remain unchanged for 5 years, so I encourage everyone to take a look and submit feedback while we have the opportunity to do so. All feedback will be presented to the CAC.
The syllabuses, once finalised will become part of the suite of ATAR courses to be first taught to Year 11 students in 2015 and then examined for the first time in 2016.
