DESCRIPTION:Helen Adam presents “The lack of culturally diverse literatur
 e in classrooms and what it means for EAL/D students.”\n\nHelen Adam\, a
 n Academic Lecturer from Edith Cowan University\, will present this intere
 sting session about authentic texts. Participants will be provided with an
  overview of research from around the world and her own research into this
  area\, particularly in relation to cultural diversity.\n\nThis will be co
 nsidered in the light of the impact of such limited collections on childre
 n’s developing sense of identity\, social and emotional development and 
 intercultural awareness. Evidence based frameworks to guide careful criter
 ia for selecting children’s literature for use across the curriculum wil
 l be presented and discussed.\n\nThis event is free for members\, to regis
